Talk about a FAST photoshoot. Not really the amount of time spent was short, but that the running and keeping up I had to do. HA HA! Little man K is busy, B-U-S-Y! Honestly, it's exactly like my son, always on the run... always checking things out... curious... smart... amazing!

Ahhh.... Newborns! Precious but, my oh my, are they one of the hardest subjects for me. You have to have a lot of patience and a little more time than your typical family portraits. I had so many ideas, that I had a hard time actually implementing. There was one shot that I so badly wanted to get, but just could not execute. SO... to that... I have to say a HUGE thank you to my clients of this ADORABLE little babe for being so patient with me and working with me on all my funny little ideas!! Not to mention, I had no idea how late it was until I was in my car driving off. WOW! I hope your dinner plans weren't ruined by my poor timing! *I really need to get a watch!* ;)

Charlotte Photography - 1st Birthday party!!

What a beautiful Labor day weekend! And what's even better, I had the pleasure of being the photographer for this fantastic 1st birthday party. The little birthday girl is absolutely adorable. I photographed her as a newborn and I just can't believe that a year has past already. The party was filled with love and fun with a big group of very sweet family members and I feel so blessed to have been invited to share in the celebration of such a sweet little girl. Waxhaw photography - Three years old!

Busy Spring!

It has been a very busy Summer break so far! I'm enjoying every last bit of it as well! ;)

I've photographed a couple weddings, a bridal shoot, a very impromptu friends preggo belly, the kids on their birthdays and so on. This weekend we're heading to the beach, so I promise to have a few shots from there this year! ;) I am hoping to do another special very soon over these summer months - so stay tuned!

We went to a new community that's being developed in Waxhaw for this shoot. They are really making it a pretty area. C & A are just so darn cute that I had to share a couple more of them.

She's starting to get her bottom teeth... can you see them?!! ;)

Wedding - Rehearsal dinner - Kiawah Island, SC

I had the amazing opportunity of being at a rehearsal dinner for some casual, fun shots at the beach. The bride and groom were so sweet and nice. They chose Kiawah Island to get married and I'll tell you what - it was an AMAZING location! I wanted to throw a couple *sneak peeks* out here for them.

Thank you, E, for booking me and please let your family know how much I enjoyed my time with them. They all made it so easy on me - lookin' so good! ;)

I'm running a little behind on posting to the blog ~ things are going so well that I'm feeling a wee bit overwhelmed!! This is a good thing! Every weekend in April is booked and May is filling up quickly. I did a wedding a couple weekends ago with the fabulous Larue with LEdwardImagery (THANK YOU!). Here is a sneak peak:

Child Photography - On Location

Fun, fun, fun... that's all I can say about this shoot - well and "whew!". It was such a fantastic time running around with these three kids and taking some fun photos. Such a cute family and they really do love each other lots! They didn't really want to hang out all together at first, but then by the end were holding hands and bouncing around the park. It was such a beautiful sunny day. The lighting was a tiny bit harsh, but I think we got some very cool, fun shots. So here are a few...

A beautiful 75 degrees today, so we headed out to the park. It felt so good to be out and about without jackets - the warmth of the sun on our faces... ahh... it was nice.

So, since we were at the park... and that's usually the one place I can get real smiles from my kids... here are a couple.

After the snow

So this is how it went after coming in from our morning out in the snow.
Me: "It's time to take a nap kiddos!" (after lunch with hot cocoa, of course)
Kids: "But we want to go play in the snow!"
Me: "We'll maybe play some more after your nap, ok?"
Kids: "Ok... "
and nap they did!

When they woke up... there was no snow... that's how fast it came and went.
This is what we saw when we came out:

Since the snow was gone from our sand, they ended up just playing in that... which made a mess, but they had fun. Being cold and wet, it almost reminded me of moonsand.
Life was pretty much back to normal without the snow.

It was fun and the kids had a good time. I enjoyed our day off from school as much as they did, I think. I love times like this!

Snow in NC!

So - yesterday we walked the street in a light coat and dress... today we bundled up in a snowsuit and made snow angels! ;)

I love that we got a day of snow. It's beautiful and so much FUN! We actually went sled riding in it and of course made the obligatory snow angels. After coming in we warmed our little tummies with some hot cocoa & marshmallows while watching the inauguration. What an awesome awesome morning. Here are a few photos from our time outside.

Happy 2009

It's that time again to make resolutions for the year ahead. I don't normally have too many resolutions - but I'm really looking forward to an amazing 2009. In 2008, I had some goods and bads ~ ups and downs, just like many people do in a year. But I also some times forget how truly blessed I am. Ok... getting down to the business of this post - my 2009 resolutions:
1) I want to start on another photo project... just not sure which one yet.
2) At some point this year, I want to make Angela Pace Photography my full time job.
-of course some contract development jobs along the way would be helpful. :0
3) Need to get my pricing finalized for '09.
4) Learning about marketing... marketing my photography... myself... my creativity.
5) Second shooting a couple weddings this year, with the help of www.ledwardimagery.com (THANK YOU!). ;)
6) Save up enough to get that second camera body. Woo hoo!
7) Keep my photography fresh and get more creative... learn more... get thy self to more photography workshops!!
And then there are the personal resolutions, like:
8) Spending more quality time with the kids - but also getting them both into some extracurricular activities like soccer and dance & BEING THERE to watch them all. ;) I could not be more excited for this next step.
9) fitness goals... I have at least 10 lbs to lose. Hmph.

So - that's that. 9 resolutions / goals for 09.

I had some much needed family time on Saturday. I had the opportunity to fly up to Baltimore to see my wonderful cousin & her beautiful family. Her little man J is just adorable - and quite the snuggler - I loved it! My cousin also showed me around Baltimore and took me to an amazing seafood restaurant - of which I had some wonderful grilled salmon! Thank you cuz! Thank you also for lending an ear and being a great friend too. My heart is so heavy right now, but I will always cherish this weekend.

Honestly, there's no denying that S is beautiful! Both my kids love her and are always looking for S to come out and play with them. She has a very sweet personality and can tell some fantastic stories! We had a great time chatting and walking around Waxhaw looking for good backdrops.

The day at a BBQ festival!

There was this BBQ festival this past weekend so we met up with some friends there. It was nice to be out and walking around and having a fun time with the kids. I took a few pictures while there - we had a great time.

Our friend's daughter, C, has thee best smile & she smiles ALL the time! I just adore her and love her parents dearly as well. Thanks again for meeting us there!

We also carved a pumpkin the next day. Kellen drew the face - I think he did an awesome job! Kalea colored hair on the top of it, HA HA! ;)

Birthday party fun!

Seriously - these kids are the BEST and they loved the camera! My son's friend had a super awesome Spongebob themed party and the kids had a blast! Here are a few from the evening:

I had the opportunity to photograph a wonderful family this Saturday. Little Ms. A was just the cutest little babe with the chubby cheeks and leg rolls - makes you wanna just cuddle up with her. Then there was C - oh I still can't get over how smart and sweet he was! He had a laugh that was wonderfully infectious & I found myself having a blast with him. What a pleasure it is hanging out with the R,K & C (and soon to be lil one)! C is so much fun and just the sweetest little boy! I've never seen someone his age make a layup like he does with the hoop in his living room. I sure do wish I had captured one of those shots! C is going to be showing his little brother or sister a thing or two... that's for sure! He's one smart cookie! It makes sense, though, when you meet his parents - they are fantastic - this next lil one will be as blessed! I had the wonderful pleasure of photographing this darling little girl. She was absolutely precious! Her sweet plumpy cheeks reminded me SO much of my own little girls cheeks as a baby. Couldn't you just eat her up?! This was a bit of a rushed / impromptu session, but it was fun none-the-less! Her parents were so sweet, thank you two for allowing me to photograph B! She's precious!

Womens Photography Workshop

I had the fabulous opportunity to go to a women's photography workshop in Nashville hosted by the mah-velous Kate Crafton. My roommate was fantastic - I hope to catch up with her again. Next time we'll get out and have some fun! This trip... just very tired! We were busy doing shoots Fri & Sat and fell asleep pretty early Sat evening.

I'm happy to report that I was able to learn quite a bit on this little trip. I was definitely in awe over the amazing photographers that joined the workshop. We also had some super models that allowed us to take endless shots of them - cameras & flashes in their faces not to mention all the places we made them go for that perfect shot - thank you to all of you... it was a great experience! Thank you Kate for allowing me to join you all!

Child Photographer - McDowell Nature Preserve

What a fantastic morning! I had the pleasure of photographing the sweetest little man! Him & his mom (a friend of mine) met my family and I at a Nature preserve in Charlotte. It's situated around Lake Wylie and what a fantastic find! The kids had so much fun playing at the playground, checking out the lake and more hiking! More travels

We went to an Apple Orchard in Boone and then traveled around Blowing Rock, NC on Saturday. We were fortunate enough to have some friends touring us around. Thank you C, E & K! :) My family had a wonderful time! The kids said several times today how much fun they had and wondered when we'd get to see you all again.

C & E's very precious and VERY good little girl. I don't think we heard much of a peep from her the entire trip!

From the Orchard we saw this view... it was breathtaking!

We hiked a ton through the woods and some of it was uphill. So... both the kids took a break on this bench on the way up.

At the peak of our hike... we stopped at an outlook and were able to see down on the beautiful falls.

We also visited an old house (now shop). This was taken from their front porch. Can you imagine being able to wake up to this view every morning?

*sniff, sniff* I just wanted to take a moment to dedicate a little post to my little man. He's such an active boy... always thinking... very detailed and must always finish his thoughts (or whatever he's doing that I've told him to stop doing). *smile* He's also very affectionate & caring and his kisses are the sweetest little things! He enjoys playing rough and taking things apart. Always wanting to inspect things and know how they work. He's going to do great in school! I hope that he's challenged enough, but for now... it's new and he'll be adjusting. He's my little man.Good luck sweetie - I know you'll do great and be a superstar!

Random photos

We went down into Waxhaw this weekend a couple times. I love our little town! I grew up in a very small town, and although Waxhaw is a smidgen bigger, it really does make me feel more "at home". They have this great little park that the kids love to play at and several wonderful restaurants. Too much to go on about here... but I feel blessed to have found this place!

My big kindergartner (!) was about to go down the big slide, but I caught him at the top with a big grin! :D

And another one of him and his very wonderful smile - it makes me melt! *heart*

There's a train (or several - hee hee) that runs through the town and any time we're at the park and hear the train whistle blow that prompts us all to RUN to the top where these benches are and watch as it goes by. We even get a special wave from the conductors from time to time! Talk about a treat!

And this may sound silly to some but oddly (ok so I'm admitting it's a little odd that I find this cool), I'm excited that the kids can finally play on the seesaw together! Baby girl had a blast!!

And in case you don't believe me here is more evidence... in color.

Not only do I love a lot of things about this town, one thing is for sure... they have the best little shops with some wonderful ice cream!! Above is a quick shot of one of the newer shops. Wine & ice cream... there's no going wrong with that combo!

We took a walk around town and of course over the new bridge. The old one was wonderfully rustic and fit the town, but I feel SO much better walking over this one!

And of course we had to all check out the view from atop before heading home.

Wild and Wonderful West Virginia

Wild is right! Hee hee. We had such a wonderful time in WV hiking through the woods (both marked paths as well as crazy off-trail hikes up steep hills with a 3-yr old *thanks Mom*! <-- just joking!), watching waterfalls, swimming in the pools & more hiking!

On Friday we got off to a bit of a slow start, but it didn't keep us from doing some sight seeing! We went to a state park that had a tram *note very very small tram* that took the 6 of us down the mountain so that we could ride a boat around the Summersville Lake and to the dam. During our boat tour we got the chance to see how real W.Virginian's live it up next to the water! Our next stop was to see a waterfall and then if was off to dinner!

Saturday was more of the same. We went on close to a 4-mile hike out to a point on Summersville Lake. *Autumn & Ray ya'll might remember this hike about 4 years ago!* It was such a good time. The men stayed up front for most of the hike while us girls (Kalea) took our time checking out all of the little flowers, sticks and bugs along the way.

The waterfalls were really beautiful. It would sprinkle and then the sun would come out and shine right on the one spot. Gorgeous!

The WILD part... this is the "Mystery Hole". Talk about a different experience!

Evenings out

Last week we spent some time at a Knights baseball game and then also dinner out with a dear friend. Thank you Jennifer for meeting us and then listening to the speaker with me. I had a wonderful evening and learned a lot. Since it was raining while I waited for Jennifer, I took a few photos of the kids with the umbrella.

Another nice weekend

Parents in this weekend. We had such a relaxing wonderful time. I miss my parents a TON and wish we could visit with them more often. Anyway, I shot a few photos this weekend – just a broad range of different things as an overview of what we did.

They came down on this, their favorite ride:

My mom has some great ideas for flowers for the front yard. Our yard right now is such a work in progress. We often talk about the things we’d like to do, maybe if I had her help we’d get some things done. I am clueless when it comes to what flowers to get, etc. I think I get overwhelmed in a garden center with so many different options! This is a wild flower growing in the front right now.

Mom also enjoys taking photographs of her grandkids. We were often sitting them together or “staging” some of the photos of them this weekend. We even made them sit next to each other from time to time!

One morning we spent at a state park walking around the lake there. Here are just a few captures:

I didn't get the chance to write a month ago about my hubby and I's wedding anniversary. So... this is a tribute to him. He's such an amazing father & husband, I am truly a very luck woman.

He loves the ocean and we enjoy walking the beach early in the morning. Here are some random shots that I liked from our morning walk.

Little man learned how to ride his boogie board last weekend, but I finally got a couple shots of him doing his thing this time! I am always in awe of how much he is growing up (which has me wondering if I'll always call him little man! HA!). Because her big brother was having so much fun, Kalea thought she'd join in on the boogie board so the grandparents gave her her very own Dora board! LOL. She enjoyed riding it, but wasn't thrilled with water in the face, so it's not quite as much fun as her brother led her to believe. ;) I didn't get any pictures of the short rides she took.

We then headed to our favorite dinner place, Margaritaville, and then walked around the zillion shops at Broadway that evening. It was a nice evening.

Baby girl really did have fun, regardless of the sour face she put on for the photo.

4th of July festivities

We're back from a long weekend at the beach! It's nice to relax a bit, there are times when a break is needed. This was one of those times. I'm happy to be back, though, and it's not like we're saying goodbye forever. ;) We'll be back to the beach a few times (weekends) this summer. The kids love it there and they get to visit with their Gramma & Papap James.
Sunsets

I have a love for a beautiful sunset/sunrise. If I could plaster the walls in my house with pictures of a nice sunset over the ocean, I think I would! ;) It's one of those times when you get a moment to take a breath, step back and revel in the beauty of our Earth.

My kids love the beach, and frankly, I think this was the only time they sat still! We'd go to it first thing in the morning till lunch.

And of course, when the beach gets too warm and crowded we'd head to the covered pool. There were no objections from the kids.

Fireworks!

Let me tell you... fireworks photos... not easy! HA! I liked this shot... loved the one "burst" on the left, but again... nothing fantastic. I have always liked fireworks too. Sunsets and fireworks (oh and not to mention a good ol' campfire)... vacation is complete!

Fun times

It's been a pretty boring week around the Pace household. Well... boring to our standards... a 3 and 5 year old can keep you on your toes! HA! We had one trip to the dentist. It ended up not being a very fun trip for me, but Kellen had a great time. The practice's waiting area was filled with video games, books and toys. It was a childs heaven! I certainly don't remember a waiting area like this when I was a youngster! ;) All is well, but there will be more visits in our future for little man. Baby girl goes with us next time for her first cleaning!

This weekend my in-laws were in town. This is the start of their 5-6 weeks at the beach. They look forward to this trip all year, but really who can blame them? It would be nice to have the summers off. While they were at the house this weekend I took a couple pictures of them with the kids. You can certainly see the adoration not only of the kids with their Grandparents but from the Grandparents of the kiddos.

I've gotten a few requests to take more photos for others and I'm really psyched about that! I enjoy photography so much and getting to know other families and their children. It's such a pleasure! With that said, call any time to schedule an appt for a session!

Collage II reveal

Background information... Muzak had a contest to create a cover for the new Collage CD's that showcases the amazing talent of Muzak employees. A friend / co-worker and I put our heads together and came up with a concept shot. We entered it, and we won! It didn't make the actual cover, but it should be inside some-where. ;) Pretty exciting, I thought! And fun!
On Saturday I was invited to a Preview Party of Collage II - amazing music!! I'm constantly blown away by the talent here! I took some photos for them at the party. I'm excited to be a part of the fun and thankful... thankful to have my photo chosen for on the CD as well as to be asked to take more!! YAY!

Grandpa Traister

Grandpa worked as an electrician retiring from Knox Glass after 36 years. He was an avid motorcyclist, hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his family. He was a hard worker... that's what I would remember most about Grandpa along with his wonderful smile. Always ready to help anyone if they needed it. He was always up for a trip on the motorcycle and never missed an opportunity to walk through the woods with a gun. I was the only granddaughter, but I remember never feeling left out of the family fun. As I do, the men in Grandpa's life are going to miss him dearly, but will always cherish those special times they had together.

Grandpa created some amazing roots for the Traister family.

5 years old! It's so hard to believe! I have been blessed with a boy that loves his family, friends & Jesus. He is very high energy and easily distracted, but he's a complete joy. His belly laugh is highly contagious and one that I have memorized to play back any chance I get.

I had the wonderful pleasure of visiting some friends on Saturday & their beautiful 4 week old daughter. She was such a doll and certainly gave me a tiny twinge of baby fever! :D Just a tiny one, I promise! I wasn't 100% pleased with the photos but they are such a photogenic family! Thank you two for allowing me to do this and I hope we get to see each other again soon. Hopefully the little one will sleep better for you two!

I've decided that part of this blogging was going to be hopefully an extension of my daily photos. The only difference will be that I plan on it being more of a weekly update... photos here and there for a while.

So, my husband was traveling today, the kids and I enjoyed the day just hanging around the house - doing some swimming. Of course I had the camera with me! HA! It was nice to hang out with them... they are such good kids. We ate breakfast out, did some swimming, lunch, nap, more swimming, dinner and then out for ice cream! YUM! The perfect day!

First Blog!

My first blog! I'm so excited about the months to come. I have so much to look forward to. What a blessing to be where I am right now. I've spent the last year and a half working to expand on my photography & creativity. I've done a Daily Picture for a year and in between have just been enjoying every moment I can with my family. It's often that you'll see me walking around with the camera around my neck (just like when I was young and on vacations)! I was taking it to work with me almost every day for the past year as well! Imagine what others must think, LOL. But in all honesty, I've had so much fun capturing some wonderful things throughout.

I'll leave this first post with a picture of my very adorable little neice.
